Putin meets with president of Vietnam

MOSCOW. May 9 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia and Vietnam are conducting active political dialogue.

"We maintain very rhythmic dialogue and we are developing our strategic partnership," Putin said during a meeting with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang in the Kremlin on Saturday.

Putin recalled that Russia and Vietnam are marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations this year.

The president thanked the Vietnamese president for accepting the invitation to attend the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and again congratulated him and all people f Vietnam on the 40th anniversary of the restoration of the territorial integrity of the country.

"I want to congratulate all friendly people of Vietnam and you personally as a participant in the military action," Putin said.

Putin reiterated that the people of Vietnam, "like no one else, know what trouble war brings and how dear peace is."
