Putin: success of Donbas settlement depends on Ukrainian administration
MOSCOW. May 10 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said the success of the settlement of the situation in Donbas depends largely on Kyiv, but assured that all possible influence will be exerted on the administration of the DPR and the LPR to ensure that the process goes at the needed pace.
"The work of the four relevant sub-groups on specific settlement tracks finally began in Minsk on May 6. We will do all we can to ensure that their work is effective, although the success, of course, depends mainly on the people who are in power," Putin told a press conference following negotiations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
He added: "I mean primarily the administration in Kyiv. We will exert all influence we have on the administrations of Donetsk and Luhansk to ensure that this process goes at the needed pace and with the needed quality."
