DPR skeptical about Poroshenko's call to sell Ukrainian weapons

DONETSK. May 12 (Interfax) - Self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) People's Council Chairman Andrei Purgin has called the declarations by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on the need to sell Ukrainian weapons unfounded.

"Defense sector contacts between Ukraine and Russia have been severed. Ukraine has lost 18% of its defense industry, which stands for billions of arms sold each year. Ukraine is not self-sufficient moreover that it has lost its engineering tool, Donbas. The declaration that Ukraine should sell weapons is a statement made for HR purposes," Purgin told reporters on Tuesday.
