Two Iskander-M missile systems to enter service in Russian Ground Forces in 2015
SOCHI. May 13 (Interfax) - The Russian Army is to receive two brigade sets of Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile systems before the end of 2015.
"The missile units of the Ground Forces are expected to receive two brigade sets of Iskander-M tactical ballistic missiles before the end of this year," according to the documents prepared for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, focused on the development of the Russian Armed Forces.
In Q1 this year the formations of the Ground Forces received over 600 units of weaponry, military and motor vehicles, including T-72B3 tanks, BTR-82AM amphibious armored personnel carriers, Zoopark-1M radar vehicles, over 1,900 radio stations of various modifications, some 70,000 units of man-portable weapons and pieces of gear, including Ratnik infantry combat equipment.
The documents quote the operating plans of the Ground Forces as saying that by 2020 the share of new weaponry and other military hardware will reach 70% of their arsenals.
