Beirut expects military-technological cooperation offers from Moscow - Lebanese politician

MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who today leads the al-Mustaqbal political movement, has expressed his interest in securing larger "military donations" to Lebanon from Russia.

Lebanon has already concluded several contracts with companies of the Russian defense industry, but Beirut also hopes for broader cooperation in this area, including "military donations" comprising different kinds of weapons and military equipment from Russia, Hariri, who is currently in Moscow, told Interfax.

Lebanon needs these weapons in order to be able to combat terrorism, especially along its borders, as well as reinforce its army, he said.

Hariri said he intended to discuss this issue with the Russian authorities and expected to receive some offers.
