Dixy boosts revenues 20.5% in April

MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - Dixy Group , one of Russia's leading retailers, boosted revenues 20.5% year-on-year in April 2015 to 21.9 billion rubles, the company said in a statement.

Growth slowed compared with March, when revenues grew 24.6%.

In the first four months of the year, the retailer saw sales rise 25.8% to 85.1 billion rubles.

The revenue of Dixy neighborhood stores, the retailer's main format, last month increased by 22.6% to 17.7 billion rubles, and for January-April by 28.9% to 68.3 billion rubles. Victoria supermarkets increased sales by 13.8% in April to 2.26 billion rubles and by 16.4% in the 4M to 8.8 billion rubles.

Megamart and Minimart hypermarkets increased sales by 10.5% in April to 1.5 billion rubles, and for the 4M increased revenue by 11.6% to 5.85 billion rubles.

In April the company opened 35 Dixy neighborhood stores (18 in April 2014) and closed the same amount as it did last year. For the 4M the retailer opened 188 new stores (all neighborhood stores) against 56 stores a year earlier. In January-April the company closed 13 stores, the same amount as last year.

The selling space of the retailer grew by 26% year-on-year to 767,250 square meters at the end of April, including the selling space of the chain of neighborhood stores grew by 30% to 652,900 square meters.

The growth of revenue slowed for other Russian food retailers. Magnit last month increased revenue by 28.7%, and in March by 30.4%. X5 Retail slowed sales growth in April to 26% (data for the first 20 days of the month) against 28% in March.

Food inflation in Russia in April slowed to 0.3% from 1.6% in March.

Dixy manages Dixy convenience stores and the Minimart and Megamart compact hypermarkets. In June 2011, Dixy purchased the Victoria Group, which includes the Victoria supermarkets, the Kvartal, Deshevo and Semeynaya Kopilka discount stores, and the Cash cash & carry store. At the end of April the retailer's chain included 2,370 stores, including 2,241 Dixy neighborhood stores and 47 Victoria supermarkets.
