Russian, Belarusian officers inspect Estonian Defense Forces under Vienna Document

TALLINN. May 15 (Interfax) - Officers from the Russian arms control center, which took part in an inspection of the Estonian Defense Forces on May 12-15, have forwarded a report to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on the forces' compliance with the Vienna Document on security and confidence building measures, the Estonian Defense Forces main staff told Interfax on Friday.

In line with the Vienna Document, OSCE member-states can make inspection visits to other OSCE members lasting up to 48 hours to verify the document's implementation, it said.

The delegation included three officers from Russia and one from Belarus, who mainly inspected the 1st Infantry Brigade, although the entire inspection territory was 18,000 square kilometers in size, where the largest military exercises in Estonia's history, Siil 2015, were conducted, it said.

The report on the inspection findings will be shared with all OSCE member-states.

This inspection was the first one conducted by Russia this year.
