Bill on moratorium on Ukraine's external debts passed by Vekhovna Rada "a step towards default" - Peskov
MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - The Kremlin is awaiting further information in relation to the bill passed by Verkhovna Rada, imposing a moratorium on payment of Ukraine's external debts, and has described the decision as a step towards a default.
"Effectively, it is a step towards a default, but what kind of step precisely I cannot say as I don't have the details," Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
Commenting one the bill which passed in the third reading in the Ukrainian parliament, the Russian president's press secretary added: "I don't know what it means, whether it needs the president's signature or something else."
"What is it, a declaration of a default? I cannot answer this question without having details," he added.
