Vilnius to seek meeting with Lithuanian citizen detained on spying charges in Russia - foreign minister

VILNIUS. May 20 (Interfax/BNS) - Russia has informed the Lithuanian embassy in Moscow on the detention of a Lithuanian citizen charged with spying, and Lithuanian diplomats are seeking to contact him, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius said on Wednesday.

"We have received official information from the Russian Federal Security Service - the embassy has received this information - that, as they claim, a Lithuanian citizen has been detained, and his name has been indicated. In keeping with the Vienna Convention on [Consular] Relations, we will ask for a meeting with this detainee right now, and all other details are being verified," Linkevicius told journalists at the Sejmas.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) had reported earlier that a member of a Lithuanian intelligence service had been detained while receiving classified information in Russia.
