Kyiv again accuses militia of marring Minsk deal
KYIV. May 21 (Interfax) - Militia attacks on Ukrainian positions in Donbas have been conducted since Wednesday night mostly by use of mortars and artillery cannons with calibers outlawed by the Minsk agreements, Kyiv has claimed.
The militia "mostly used mortars and artillery cannons of forbidden calibers. They used those particular kinds of weapons to shell the Donetsk area every hour, as if by schedule," the army operation press center wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
It said the militia shelled Avdiivka, Opytne, Butovka mine, Kranohorivka, Kamenka, Starohnativka, Pisky, Vodyane and Mariinka, and fired anti-tank missiles at Hranytne, the press center said. Luhanske, Lozove, Kirove, Leninske and Mayorsk came under mortar, grenade launcher, machinegun and small arms attacks.
Artillery pieces installed in Sakhanka were firing on Shyrokyne in the Mariupol area, and the towns of Shchastya and Stanitsa Luhanska came under fire in the Luhansk region, the press center said.
Also, Ukraine accused the militia of opening fire on repair teams on Thursday morning. The repairmen were due to start reconstruction works near the town of Mayorsk in the Donetsk region.
