No precise info on possible Russian casualties in blast near embassy in Syria - source

MOSCOW/DAMASCUS. May 21 (Interfax) - Reports on Russian citizens who might have suffered injuries in an explosion of ammunition rounds near the Russian Embassy in Damascus have yet to be verified; at the same time, the death of an embassy guard, a Syrian citizen, has been confirmed, a Russian diplomatic source told Interfax.

"The information about three people wounded by an explosion of ammunition rounds near the Russian embassy is being verified, and no accurate information is so far available," the source said.

The diplomat confirmed the death of one man, a Syrian citizen, who served as an embassy security guard.
