ROSTOV-ON-DON. May 21 (Interfax) - The Rostov region authorities have shut down 22 refugee shelters in April-May due to the declining number of Ukrainian citizens in need of temporary accommodation, the regional government's information policy department said on Thursday.

Six shelters are operating in the region. Another 20 Ukrainians are living in a refugee shelter in the town of Koksovy in the Belokalitvinsky district.
According to the regional department of the Federal Migration Service, 6,650 Ukrainian citizens have moved from the Rostov region to other areas of Russian since the beginning of this year.
Approximately 60,000 Ukrainian refugees, including over 20,000 children, were staying in the Rostov region in June-July 2014, during the peak of military confrontations in southeastern Ukraine, the report said.
