Poroshenko thanks Canadian PM for military instructors, equipment

KYIV. May 21 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper have discussed the latest events in Donbas and a number of aspects of Ukrainian-Canadian relations in a telephone conversation, the Ukrainian presidential press service reported.

"Poroshenko thanked [Harper] for assistance that Canada has provided to Ukraine, particularly by deciding to dispatch military instructors and send several shipments of military equipment to Ukraine," it said.

"We always feel your friendly shoulder," Poroshenko said.

Harper said Ukraine can further count on Canada, it said.

The two leaders also coordinated their positions in the run-up to a G7 meeting scheduled for June in Germany.

Poroshenko invited Harper to visit Kyiv in the near future, and the Canadian prime minister accepted the proposal, the Ukrainian presidential press service said.
