LPR says it is observing Minsk agreements

LUHANSK. May 22 (Interfax) - Militia units of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) are observing the Minsk agreements and are not opening fire in response to provocations from the Ukrainian military, Igor Yashchenko, deputy head of the LPR People's Militia Corps, has said.

"Despite the provocation attempts, the People's Militia is observing the Minsk agreements and is not responding to provocations. Which does not mean that it will continue this way in the future. If need be, there will be an appropriate response," Yashchenko was quoted as saying by the Luhansk Information Center on Friday.

"The enemy continues to demonstrate combat preparedness, driving their equipment along the contact line and trying to cause us to violate the Minsk agreements in order to later expel us from the Minsk negotiations," Yashchenko said.

"The operative situation in the zone of responsibility of the People's Militia Corps has not changed. The ceasefire regime is not being observed by the Ukrainian military," Yashchenko said.
