Eastern partnership summit in Riga didn't meet expectations - Kosachev
MOSCOW. May 22 (Interfax) - Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the Federation Council committee on international affairs, has expressed skepticism about the Eastern Partnership held in Riga.
"It can be said that the summit didn't meet up to the expectations," Kosachev said on Facebook.
"However, in this case there were no special expectations. All authoritative EU officials said unanimously that 'there will be no European prospects or visa-free regime, but we will be happy to discuss the rest,'" Kosachev said.
"It wasn't the fate of Ukraine that was decided in Riga. It was obviously the fate of Eastern Partnership, the Swedish-Polish project to explore post-Soviet space, not the fate of Ukraine," the senator said.
