Onexim participates in Uralkali buyback, might have presented less than half of stake - sources

MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax) - The main shareholder of Uralkali , Mikhail Prokhorov's Onexim, has participated in a tender for the sale of the potash company's shares, several sources familiar with the situation told Interfax.

One of the sources said that Prokhorov's company could present less than half of its stake (it owns 27.09%) in Uralkali for buyback.

Onexim and Uralkali are not commenting on this information.

On April 23 Uralkali announced a buyback program of shares and GDR for a total sum of up to $1.5 billion. In total within the framework of the program the company may buy back up to 15.97% of charter capital for a sum of up to $1.5 billion. The price of the buyback will be $3.2 per share and $16 per GDR.

The timeframe for the acceptance of applications for the buyback of shares expired on May 22 at 1:00 p.m. Moscow time.
