Some 12,000 troops, up to 250 planes, helicopters take part in CMD snap drills - Russian Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Armed Forces are conducting a massive surprise inspection of combat readiness of troops, Air and Air Defense forces in the Central Military District (CMD), the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The inspection involves about 12,000 military service personnel, as well as up to 250 planes and helicopters and 689 various weapons and pieces of military hardware," the ministry said in a statement obtained by Interfax-AVN on Monday.
During the inspection "the Long-Range Aviation aircraft will carry out cruise missile strikes against a mock enemy's ground targets at the Pemboi test and training area (Komi Republic)," the spokesperson said. .
