France, Belarus to exchange military inspectors
MINSK. May 25 (Interfax) - A group of French inspectors will be in Belarus between May 25 and 31 in compliance with the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty (CFE) and the Vienna Document, the Belarusian Defense Ministry's press service has reported.
"The group will inspect a military unit it will select on its own, and visit the 116th assault air base," the press service said.
The purpose of the inspection is to verify compliance with the treaty-stipulated presence of arms and military hardware at the facilities to be inspected.
"Information provided by Belarus to the signatory countries will be checked for compliance with the Vienna Document," the press service said.
The Belarusian Defense Ministry also said that besides the seven French military inspectors the group will comprise one representative each from Belgium and Hungary.
A Belarusian inspection group is to inspect a military unit in France between May 26 and 30, the Defense Ministry said.
The Belarusian group, besides the eight Belarusian military inspectors, has a representative of Kazakhstan.
