Russian Railways expects freight loading to drop over 5% in June
SEOUL. May 27 (Interfax) - Russian Railways (RZD) expects freight loading to fall by more than 5% in June as the slump is deepening, the head of RZD's corporate technical service center, Yelena Kunayeva said.
"We expect more than a 5% decrease [in June]," Kunayeva said. "Consumption on the domestic market is falling, the heating season has ended, demand for ore has decreased," she said, listing the reasons for the slump.
"The [negative] trends that emerged fairly clearly in April because the first quarter was relatively calm compared to the current situation are now deepening," Kunayeva said.
She also pointed to the significant slump in the construction sector.
RZD still expects freight loading in May to drop by 3-3.3%, Kunayeva said.
