Simulated missile and air strike repelled at Astrakhan region drills - Russian Defense Ministry
ASHULUK TRAINING RANGE, Astrakhan region. May 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Military aircraft crews and air defense forces have successfully accomplished their tasks as part of surprise training exercises at the Ashuluk range in Russia's southern Astrakhan region, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Thursday.
"During the final stage of the surprise inspection of combat readiness at the Ashuluk training range, aviation and air defense units successfully repelled a massive missile and air strike staged by a mock adversary," he said.
Air defense units also conducted electronic and live-fire exercises using S-300 and Buk systems, the spokesman said.
"During the practical launches, air defense guided missiles successfully destroyed four targets, two of which imitated cruise missiles and the other two ballistic targets," Konashenkov said.
