LPR's Deinego urges Poroshenko to honor Minsk deal, election provisions included

MOSCOW. May 28 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) has reminded Kyiv about the need to honor the Minsk agreements, including the provisions regarding elections in Donbas.

"Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko should stick to the Package of Measures signed in Minsk, which spelled out steps to be taken before the elections in Donbas," LPR negotiator Vladislav Deinego told Interfax.

He noted that the self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk people's republics had presented a draft law on Donbas elections and draft amendments to the Ukrainian constitution to Kyiv.

"Amendments to the Ukrainian constitution should be adopted first, and a normative and legal foundation should be laid before the elections are arranged," he said.

Poroshenko said in his opening remarks at the Eighth Kyiv Security Forum that dialogue with Donbas was possible on condition of fair elections and emphasized that the dialogue would be held with Ukrainian Donbas.
