Russia ups gold production 2% in Q1

MOSCOW. May 28 (Interfax) - Russia produced 46.418 tonnes of gold in Q1 2015, 2% more than in the same period of last year, the Gold Producers' Union said.

Production of ingots from mined gold grew 4% to 35.75 tonnes and from byproduct gold - 4% to 4.185 tonnes, while production from secondary gold fell 8% to 6.518 tonnes.

Production of gold concentrates with subsequent export fell 38.6% to 2.089 tonnes.

The Union stands by its 2015 gold production forecast of not more than 291 tonnes.
