FIFA inquiry nothing to do with Russia - U.S. Embassy to Russia

MOSCOW. May 28 (Interfax) - The U.S.-launched investigation against several high-ranking FIFA officials does not concern Russia as there are no Russian citizens among the accused, the U.S. Embassy to Russia has said.

The investigation has nothing to do with Russia, which is hosting the 2018 world cup, and the country is not even mentioned in the multi-page statement for the press released yesterday by the U.S. Department of Justice, embassy spokesman William Stevens told Interfax.

Some of the defendants are U.S. citizens, but there are no Russians among the accused, Stevens said.
