Dollar, euro rise slightly against ruble at opening
MOSCOW. May 29 (Interfax) - The dollar and the euro rose on the Moscow Exchange at the opening of trading on Friday, but did not exceed the high points of the previous day, the ruble fell, amid the negative performance of oil prices that has been observed over the last few days.
The dollar traded at 52.8 rubles/$1 after the first minute or so, 20 kopecks higher than the previous closing and 51 kopecks higher than the official rate.
The euro traded at 57.74 rubles/EUR1, up 17 kopecks against previous closing and 60 kopecks higher than the official rate.
The bi-currency-basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) rose 18.5 kopecks to 55.02 rubles.
The dollar and euro reached new high points on the Moscow Exchange. The ruble is falling on oil's negative performance despite the reduction of the Central Bank's purchases of forex.
The dollar reached 53.17 rubles/$1 by 10:10 a.m. Moscow time, the highest point since April 22. The euro rose to 58.2 rubles/EUR1, which is its highest point since April 8.
The dollar and the euro are rising for the fourth day in a row, the dollar rose by 3.2 rubles or by 6.4% and the euro rose by 3.21 rubles or by 5.9%.
