Poroshenko expects Saakashvili to combat corruption, attract investors to Odessa

KYIV. May 30 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko expects Mikheil Saakashvili to be successful as head of the Odessa regional administration in combating corruption and attracting investors.

"This is a man who knows how to put ideas into practice and has changed the entire country [Georgia] toward transparency, efficiency, anti-corruption, the attraction of new investors, the establishment of a fair justice system, protection of people's rights, and democracy, whom I want to see in Ukraine - this is Mikheil Saakashvili," Poroshenko said in introducing Saakashvili as head of the Odessa regional administration to the region's top officials on Saturday.
