Moscow fears 'Libyan scenario' may repeat thru UNSC illegal immigration resolution

MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax) - A possible resolution in the UN Security Council addressing illegal immigration issues must be considered to the last detail so that it does not create an opportunity for violations, as that happened after the adoption of the UN resolution on Libya, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.

"The mandate of such an operation will have to be spelled out to the last detail because we do not want the ambiguity, which became a source of flagrant violations of the known resolution on Libya adopted in 2011, to repeat itself," Lavrov said at a press conference after negotiations with his Italian counterpart Paolo Gentiloni.
