Buk-M1 missile shoots down Malaysian Boeing near Donetsk - Almaz-Antey

MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax-AVN) - A guided air defense missile shot down the Malaysian Boeing in eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014, advisor to the Almaz-Antey Concern general designer Mikhail Malyshevsky said at a press conference on Tuesday.

"An analysis of the damage done to the plane yielded a tentative conclusion that it was hit by a guided air defense missile," he said.

"It was concluded from the type of holes found in the plane's wreckage and a comprehensive analysis of the damage that a 9M38M or 9M38M1 missile with a 9M314 or 9M314M1 warhead was used because only their damage agents have a double-T shape," Malyshevsky said.
