Gazprom Neft selling Novoport oil to NW Europe for rubles
MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - Gazprom Neft in the framework of a program for winter oil supplies from the Novoport field has exported seven tankers of Novy Port oil with a total volume of more than 110,000 tonnes.
All of the crude was sold to consumers in northwestern Europe with payment in Russian rubles, the company said in a statement.
Gazprom Neft CEO Alexander Dyukov, who was cited in the press release, said: "We are continuing to develop unique technical, logistical and marketing solutions for the Russian oil and gas sector, which permit us to not only reach year-round commercial development of the Novoport fields but also to increase the share of export transactions in Russian rubles," Dyukov said.
Oil shipments from Novoport, which began in February 2015, were the first experience in the Russian oil and gas sector of exporting oil from Yamal by sea in winter conditions.
Gazprom Neft in 2015 intends to increase production at Novoport by 55% to 230,000 tonnes. In 2015-2016, the oil company will use rented tankers for the transport of Novoport oil, and from the end of 2016 it will use specialized tankers.
The company is now in the process of pilot development at Novoport, and the field is expected to go into full-scale development at the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016. The company expects to reach the production plateau of 5.5 million tonnes per year at Novoport by 2018. The field as C1 and C2 category recoverable reserves of more than 230 million tonnes of oil and 270 billion cubic meters of gas.
