Rescuers find both pilots of crashed MiG-29 - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. June 4 (Interfax-AVN) - Both pilots who successfully ejected in the MiG-29 fighter plane crash have been found by the search and rescue services, the Defense Ministry's press service and information department told Interfax-AVN.

"According to a report from the accident site, the pilots' condition is fair," the source said.

"The pilots are now being evacuated to the Air Force Training Center," he said.

The MiG-29 fighter plane crashed during a training flight at around 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Ashuluk firing range area in the Astrakhan region. Both pilots ejected. No one was hurt and no buildings were destroyed by the crash.

The press service for the region's Health Ministry told Interfax the pilots will be taken from the Privolzhsky aerodrome to an Astrakhan hospital. "The seriousness of their injuries have not been evaluated yet. The pilots will be evacuated by emergency service vehicles from the Center for Catastrophe Medicine to the region's clinical Alexandro-Mariinskaya Hospital," the source said.
