Damascus requests 3rd Moscow meeting between Syrian govt and opposition - Russian diplomat
MOSCOW. June 5 (Interfax) - The authorities in Damascus have asked Russia to arrange the next round of consultations in Moscow between representatives of Syria's government and opposition in a bid to secure possible solutions to the Syrian conflict, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told Interfax.
"The government [of Syria] has requested the third Moscow meeting. We will have to hold additional discussions with representatives of different opposition groups," he said.
When commenting on a possible date for such a meeting, the high-ranking Russian diplomat noted that this issue does not depend on Moscow.
"We are ready for it even today. But it does not depend on us," Bogdanov said.
Moscow has already hosted two rounds of consultations between members of Syria's authorities and opposition.
