Ukrainian president: Maryinka was attacked by 500 to 1,000 militiamen
KYIV. June 5 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said up to 1,000 militiamen, supported by a considerable number of armored vehicles including tanks, were involved in the storming of Ukrainian military positions in the area of Maryinka (near Donetsk).
"On June 3, there was an assault involving 500 to 1,000 militants and a considerable number of tanks and armored vehicles, who hoped for the surprise factor to quickly take over Maryinka," he told a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.
