Russia' Egypt to hold first-ever naval exercise

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Russia and Egypt are going to hold their first-ever naval exercise on June 6-14, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

The Friendship Bridge 2015 exercise, to be held in the Mediterranean, is based on an agreement reached during talks between Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu and Egyptian Defense Minister Col. Gen. Sedki Sobhi, the ministry said in a statement.

Russia will be represented in the maneuvers by missile cruiser Moskva with a Kamov Ka-27 helicopter on board, hoverborne guided missile corvette Samum, large landing ship Alexander Shabalin, tanker Ivan Bubnov, and tugboat MB-31.

Egypt is providing frigates Taba and Dumyat, tanker Shalateen, missile boats 25 April and 18 June, two Lockheed Martin F-16 aircraft, and a control helicopter.
