Ukrainian forces' attack on Horlivka lasted for 2 hours - DPR defense ministry

DONETSK. June 8 (Interfax) - Ukrainian forces shelled Horlivka for two hours on Monday, Eduard Basurin, military spokesman for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, told Interfax.

"The shelling attack on Horlivka lasted for about two hours and targeted residential areas. Reports about civilian casualties are being verified," Basurin said.

The Joint Control and Coordination Center has confirmed that Horlivka was shelled.

"The shelling attack on Horlivka started at 1:47 p.m. and is restarted regularly with renewed intensity. Work continues to subdue the fire," a Joint Control and Coordination Center spokesman told reporters.

A Health Department spokesman told the Donetsk News Agency, meanwhile, that a woman was wounded in the shelling. "The woman has been hospitalized and is undergoing surgery. It's difficult to assess her condition for now," he said.

The Health Department also said that the woman was wounded in the head and stomach in the town of Komarovo.

According to the city administration the shelling began at 1:20 p.m. local time and is continuing. Shells hit the residential areas of Holma, Komarovo, Komsomolets and Hlyboka. "The fire is coming from positions in Artemovsk and Dzerzhinsk," a city administration spokesman said.
