Kyiv accuses militia forces of using mortars banned by Minsk agreements
KYIV. June 8 (Interfax) - The situation in eastern Ukraine remained "tense, especially in the Donetsk sector," on Monday, said the press center for the government's military operation in Donbas.
Before dawn there was a battle near Hrechyshkyne, where a "saboteur and scout group was detected and neutralized," the press center said on Facebook.
In the morning, Shchastya and Tryokhizbenka in Luhansk region came under 82-millimeter mortar attacks, it said.
Ukrainian positions in the Maryinkla area came under five attacks in which "portable anti-tank and automatic grenade launchers, anti-tank guided missiles and small arms" were used.
On two occasions, militia forces used 120-millimeter mortars, which are banned by the Minsk agreements, the press center claimed. "During one such attack, 120-millimeter enemy mortar bombs hit residential parts of Maryinka," it said.
The center said 120-millimeter mortars had fired on Kirove and Leninske in the Artemivsk area as well.
