Gazrom maintains share of EU market in 2014, share of LNG, Norway up - BP

MOSCOW. June 11 (Interfax) - Russian gas exports to Europe fell by 9%, exactly in line with the market, in 2014. Meanwhile, Norway reduced shipments by just 1% in absolute terms, increasing its market share by 2 percentage points, and LNG shipments to Europe increased by 1%, BP's annual statistical report shows.

Gazprom saw its share of the Austrian market shrink from three quarters to half last year, while the share of Norwegian gas tripled to the level of the Russian gas giant's share.

Norway's market share in Italy increased fivefold, recovering the drop in 2013. However, this was more at the expense of Algeria's market share than Russia's. LNG shipments to Italy fell to 4.5 billion cubic meters from 5.5 bcm.

Gazprom's share of Turkey's gas imports shrank by 4 percentage points to 65% as shipments of gas from Azerbaijan grew to 5.3 bcm from 3.3 bcm and imports of LNG increased to 7.3 bcm from 6.1 bcm.

The share of Russian gas on the German market grew by 3 percentage points to 45%, squeezing the market share of Norway. As gas production decreased in the Netherlands, the country increased imports of both Norwegian and Russian gas.
