Russian and Egyptian warships fire at floating target in Mediterranean Sea drills
MOSCOW. June 12 (Interfax) - The final stage of the Russian-Egyptian Friendship Bridge 2015 naval exercises is taking place in the Mediterranean Sea today.
"Upon completion of joint maneuvers, a tactical group of Russian and Egyptian ships successfully conducted live-fire artillery exercises against a floating surface target. Personnel onboard a helicopter also photographed this international unit of warships," Russian Black Sea Fleet spokesman Captain 1st Rank Vyacheslav Trukhachyov told Interfax.
The ships of the Russian and Egyptian naval forces have carried out some 15 maneuvers as part of their joint drills in the Mediterranean Sea since June 10. The exercises were coordinated by the headquarters on the coast and in the sea.
Egypt contributed up to ten warships and support vessels, as well as Air Force planes to different phases of these drills. Russia was represented by ships of its Black Sea and Baltic Fleets.
