Special services study reports on children from Kyrgyzstan who joined militants in Syria, Iraq

BISHKEK. June 15 (Interfax) - The Kyrgyz State National Security Committee is studying media reports of Kyrgyz children fighting on the side of extremists in Iraq and Syria, the press service for the committee told Interfax on Monday.

"The reports of children from Kyrgyzstan who are allegedly fighting in Syria and Iraq and their photos, which have been posted on social networking sites, are now being studied," the Kyrgyz State National Security Committee reported.

According to the committee, the information has been neither confirmed nor denied.

According to the committee, there are 330-352 citizens of Kyrgyzstan in Syria and Iraq, and some of them are there with their families. Among them are 49 women and 22 children. Virtually all of them (98%) are residents of southern Kyrgyzstan.
