Donetsk Republic leader promises not to launch attacks before training his army
MOSCOW. June 15 (Interfax) - The leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Alexander Zakharchenko, claims that militias are not yet planning to go on the offensive.
"Now is not the time to go on the offensive. Until my army is trained, we will not attack, we don't need casualties," he told reporters.
DPR is starting offensive drills on Tuesday, he said. "A tactical group battalion will begin an offensive drill tomorrow. Until my army has been trained, I won't send them [to fight]," he said.
According to Zakharchenko, Kyiv is using the Minsk agreements to re-arm its army. "With regard to the Minsk agreements: Poroshenko needs to fully re-arm the army," he said.
