Several more people accused of deadly Moscow metro crash - investigators

MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax) - Investigators probing the last year crash in the Moscow subway have identified nine more people as suspects in the case, Russian Investigative Committee (RIC) spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax on Tuesday.

"Criminal charges under Article 263 part three of the Russian Criminal Code have already been brought against the head of Moscow Metro's Track Maintenance Service, Yury Silyanov, his deputy Valery Malyshev, the head of the third unit of Metro Metro's Track Maintenance Service Nikolai Melnikov, his deputy Anatoly Kazantsev, as well as the mechanics of the Service's third unit, Yury Sheyanov and Nataliya Vedenesku, who were doing the round of the track," Markin said.

The actions of senior metro officials led to an "actual bond" between a number of people from among Moscow Metro top managers and representatives of the building companies, which carried out work at the subway facilities, with the aim to obtain personal gain in disregard for passengers' safety," the spokesman said.

It was reported earlier on Tuesday that the files of the criminal case over the crash in Moscow Metro, which killed more than 20 passengers, had been sent to a court.
