KYIV. June 16 (Interfax) - Several hundred people are rallying outside the building of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday morning to demand re-indexation of their salaries and pensions.

The protestors have filled Constitution Square, an Interfax correspondent said. They are holding flags of the Trade Unions Federation, Free Trade Unions Confederation and 'Credit Maidan.'

Public activists took to a small stage on the square to voice their demands. In addition, protestors are holding placards demanding lustration of the authorities, introduction of a provisional administration in the National Bank and prevention of the Delta Bank's liquidation.

The protest is being held peacefully. Law enforcement officers have cordoned off the parliamentary building.

It was reported that representatives of five trade union organizations presented an ultimatum to the Ukrainian government on Monday, demanding to halve the natural gas price for households, create jobs for jobless and young people, and to re-index wages for public-sector workers, student bursaries and pensions.

The ultimatum also contains a proposal to the Verkhovna Rada to urgently abolish taxes and caps on pension payouts to working and other pensioners by passing the relevant bill and to pass a bill on wage, pension and other income indexation.

The ultimatum was signed by representatives of Ukraine's Trade Unions Federation, Transport Workers' Trade Union Federation, Free Trade Unions Confederation, Unity, an association of Ukrainian trade unions, and the Association of Ukrainian Autonomous Trade Unions.
