Three civilians injured as Ukrainian army shells Donetsk's Petrovsky district - local authorities

MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax) - Three civilians were injured when the Ukrainian Armed Forces opened fire on the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, district administration head Maxim Zhukovsky has said.

"The strikes began at around 3:30 a.m. Two of these people sustained fragmentation wounds and another man was admitted to hospital with a closed head injury," Zhukovsky was quoted as saying by the Donetsk news agency.

All of them are being treated in the Petrovsky district's Hospital No. 14, and their injuries are not life-threatening, he added.

The Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has reported 13 ceasefire breaches in the past 24 hours.

"The ceasefire has been violated on 13 occasions in the past 24 hours. Ten tank projectiles, 15 artillery shells and over 50 82mm and 120mm mines were fired at the territory of Donbas," a DPR Defense Ministry spokesman told Interfax.

The Ukrainian army's strikes targeted the village of Oktyabrsky, Donetsk airport, Vesele, Nova Laspa, Yelenivka, Horlivka, Bela Kamenka, Mykhailivka, and Dokuchayevsk, he said.

For their part, the national police of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), accused the Ukrainian Armed Forces of five ceasefire breaches.

"From 6:00 a.m. on June 15, 2015 to 6:00 a.m. on June 16, 2015, five violations of the ceasefire were registered, including three overnight," the LPR national police said on Tuesday.

In particular, 120mm and 82mm mortars, as well as tank guns, were fired at the villages of Sokolnyki, Vesela Hora, Obozne and Donetske.

"No one was hurt as a result of these strikes. Two houses were destroyed by fire in the village of Donetske," according to the report.
