Russia in process of planned rearming of its nuclear triad - source
KUBINKA (Moscow region). June 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is not interested in joining a nuclear arms race but must keep to the schedule of planned rearming of its nuclear triad due to national security interests and aging of its missile arsenal, a source familiar with the situation told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday at the Army 2015 Forum.
"Even the delivery of 40 intercontinental ballistic missiles to the Armed Forces in 2015, announced by the head of state yesterday, will not exceed the limitations imposed on Russia by international agreements, either by the number of delivery vehicles or by the number of warheads," he said.
"The rearming process is routine, it is largely connected to the replacement of intercontinental ballistic missiles, the original service life of which has been exceeded manifold," the source said.
