Putin: direct investment inflow in Russia reached almost $21 billion in past three years
STRELNA. June 18 (Interfax) - Despite all external problems, international investors are showing a lot of interest in projects in Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Investors from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America are present in this hall.. Such representation shows that interest in Russia, in new projects in our country is still very high, despite all problems in global economy and politics," Putin said at a meeting with international investors at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
"Last year, the net foreign investment inflow in the Russian economy reached almost $21 billion. The and capital inflow from foreign strategic investors exceeded $140 billion in the past three years," Putin said.
The president pointed out the significant role of the Russian Direct Investment Fund in drawing foreign investment in the Russian economy.
"With its partners, the Fund has already invested in the Russian economy over $400 billion rubles and has drawn over $15 billion to long-term partnership," Putin said.
The president said it indicates the level of mutual confidence between strategic investors and Russian structures.
Putin said "records" have been set by some foreign investors in cooperation with the Russian Direct Investment Fund. "Specifically, one of our Arab friends has participated in 15 Russian Direct Investment Fund deals and over ten projects have been implemented with our colleagues from China Investment Corporation," the president said.
