Missile troops in Kamchatka region put on mock alert - Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - The coastal defense missile troops stationed in the Kamchatka region left the base and performed a multi-kilometer foot march to assigned areas and took up positions on the Pacific coast after being put on mock alert, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"During the field drill particular focus will be on practicing deployment and use of the 'Redut' coastal anti-ship missile systems," the Eastern Military District said in a press release obtained by Interfax-AVN on Friday
The maneuvers involve over 400 missile troops, it said.
The personnel "will also conduct chemical, radiation and biological protection drills, hone their physical, shooting and medical skills and train in special disciplines," the EMD said.
"During the field exercise, over 400 missile troops will practice all types of comprehensive support, from foot-march security to air defense. Tents have already been put up at the field camp to organize meal taking, training sessions and leisure for the troops; equipment-maintenance stations have already been installed," the ministry said.
