Putin, Tsipras discuss routes to ship Russian gas through Turkish Stream - Kremlin spokesman
ST. PETERSBURG. June 19 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras discussed routes for transporting Russian gas through the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"Vladimir Putin and Alexis Tsipras discussed energy projects at their meeting, particularly routes for the transportation of Russian gas through the Turkish Stream gas pipeline," Peskov told journalists following a meeting between the two leaders on Friday.
The Russian and Greek energy ministers met at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and signed a memorandum on cooperation in building and operating the gas pipeline on Greek territory and a road map for the project's implementation.
VEB Capital also signed a document on setting up a design company.
Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said VEB Capital will represent Russia in the joint venture, and Greece will be represented by an energy investment company. The project will be fully financed by VEB Capital. The necessary investments have been estimated at 2 billion euro, and this money will be borrowed, he said.
The gas pipeline's capacity should reach 47 billion cubic meters. The construction should start in 2016 and be completed in 2018.
