Pacific Fleet ships deter air attacks of simulated enemy in Avacha Bay

MOSCOW. June 22 (Interfax-AVN) - A naval group of the Pacific Fleet has been alerted, moved from its Kamchatka base and has deterred massive air attacks of a simulated enemy in the Avacha Bay, the Russian Defense Ministry has said.

"Within a day, the naval group successfully accomplished a training mission: [they] deterred massive air attacks of a simulated enemy by tracking down, locking and simulating the destruction of Mikoyan MiG-31 jets posing as the hostiles," says a report of the Eastern Military District seen by Interfax-AVN on Monday.

"During the check, Moroz, Inei and Smerch fast attack craft took their positions in the dispersal area and were put on air defense combat duty in the Avacha Bay," the report said.
