Mikoyan MiG-31 interceptor fighters undergoing training alert in Kamchatka

MOSCOW. June 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Pacific Fleet fighter jets have departed from the Yelizovo airbase in Kamchatka for a training alert, the Russian Defense Ministry has reported.

"During their combat mission, Mikoyan MiG-31 interceptor jets practiced takeoff of standby forces and interaction between crews and ground services in combat alert," says a report of the Eastern Military District press service seen by Interfax-AVN on Monday.

The pilots practiced takeoffs and landings on a short runway 'damaged' by the enemy, the district staff reports.
