Tagliavini successor is ready to work on settling Ukrainian crisis based on Minsk agreements - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. June 22 (Interfax) - Martin Sajdik, Permanent Representative of Austria to the UN, who is the main candidate for the post of special representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on Ukraine, has expressed his readiness to promote the implementation of the Minsk agreements in a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin in Moscow.

"Martin Sajdik said he is ready to make maximum effort to settle [the situation in Ukraine] in accordance with the Minsk document if his candidacy is approved," a report posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry website on Monday says.

"Russia confirms its readiness to do everything possible to promote the implementation of what was agreed upon in Minsk. It was emphasized that Kyiv's position on said agreements currently gives no reason for optimism," the Foreign Ministry says.
