Russia only imports two types of vaccine for routine vaccinations - official
ROSTOV-ON-DON, Russia. June 22 (Interfax) - Russia imports only two of the types of vaccine that it uses in routine seasonal vaccinations, said the head of the infectious disease prevention department of the Children's Infections Institute of Russia's Federal Medical and Biological Agency.
"Russian-made vaccines basically take care of our national calendar. There are two vaccines that are bought abroad today - one against poliomyelitis and one against hemophilia infection. The rest are domestically-made vaccines," Susanna Kharit told reporters on the fringes of a meeting in Rostov-on-Don of the healthcare expert board of the Federation Council's Social Policy Committee.
Committee deputy head Lyudmila Kozlova said the Russian state pays a great deal of attention to immunizations.
"We have a sense of satisfaction because until quite recently we didn't have as many Russian-made vaccines and mainly used foreign vaccines. Moreover, in speaking about the replacement of imported vaccines, we mean competitive and modern medication," she said.
