Russian AgMin in next few days to send govt proposals on extension of food embargo
MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax) - The Russian Agriculture Ministry will send its proposals concerning the decision on the extension of the food embargo in the next few days.
"The document is in progress, in a few days it will be sent to the government," a source at the ministry told Interfax.
The source did not name any details on this document, and instead emphasized that "for some positions the expansion of the list is not being discussed, but the tightening of control on imported products is."
A source familiar with the prepared document told Interfax that among the tightening measures, the restriction of supplies of lactose-free dairy products is being discussed. This in particular is about the fact that now it will be supplied only as a medical and preventative product. For this it will be necessary to receive a certificate from Rospotrebnadzor.
The need for this is connected with the fact that after the expansion of supplies of lactose-free dairy products to Russia, the supplies of cheeses from countries whose products are under the food embargo increased.
